West Bengal: 60 lakh 'adjudication marked' names in final voter list
Kolkata:In a balancing act by the Election Commission of India (ECI), around 60 lakh names with adjudication marks will be visible in the final voter list on February 28, a top ECI source told ET. At present, 60 lakh names are under the process of adjudication.

"These names will not be counted in the final electoral list, which will be published on February 28. However, these names will be visible with adjudication marks against them. These 60 lakh names will be ineligible to vote at that point. After adjudication, if their names come in the supplementary lists, they can vote," a top EC official told ET.

Meeting postponed

A high-level meeting of the ECI, including Deputy EC Gyanesh Bharti, has been postponed at the request of state government, ECI sources said. On March 1 and 2, officials of ECI were scheduled to meet the District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police and various agencies on poll preparedness. The state has requested the postponement of the meeting due to the scheduled SSC exam and Super Eight matches at Eden Gardens on March 1.
