Forty-three constituencies spread over districts of Uttar Dinajpur (9), Nadia (9), North 24 Parganas (17), Purbo Bhardhman (8) will go to the polls in the sixth phase of West Bengal assembly elections on Thursday.

A total of 306 contestants are in the fray, with Trinamool and BJP putting up candidates on all the seats. While the BJP is targeting the ruling dispensation on issues such as ‘extortion’, syndicate raj and appeasement politics, TMC is banking upon its welfare schemes like “Duare Sarkar’, ‘Swastho Sathi’ and ‘Kanyashree’.

Both the main rival parties are also wooing voters from the Matua community, who migrated to West Bengal from Bangladesh. Polling for the next two phases will be held on April 26 and April 29.
