Central ministers Smriti Irani and Dharmendra Pradhan held rallies in his support, even as Adhikari, amidst loud chants of Jai Shri Ram, walked with him to the Haldia SDO office where he filed his nomination, after conducting a puja, surrounded by his supporters.
Adhikari said he was "100 per cent" confident of my victory in Nandigram. "I would appeal to everyone not to waste your votes in favour of outsiders, who have betrayed your trust and come back to you only when the polls are around the corner," Adhikari said, without naming the CM.
Banerjee has already filed her nomination from the constituency on Wednesday. Adhikari, who won the Nandigram seat as a TMC candidate in 2016 , has vowed to quit politics if he can't beat Banerjee this time by at least 50,000 votes.
In a way of brazening his own alleged connection with some scams, Adhikari also said that people cheated by the chit fund companies in the state would get back their money if the BJP is voted to power.
