“We will come up with a Rs 10,000-crore project which will provide clean drinking water in Purulia. Didi has forced you to drink fluoride-contaminated water,” he said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged the people of Purulia to choose between development and corruption, between ‘schemes’ (of Modi) and the ‘scams’ (of Mamata) and promised the tribal dominated areas of Purulia, Bankura and Jhargram clean drinking water and the constitution of a Tribal board.

“You have a choice between scheme and scam… If you want schemes and development, you have to choose the Modi government. Or else, you can choose Mamata government for the scams and corrupt governance,” he said at Baghmundi which goes to poll on March 27.

Jobs for tribal youth and infrastructure development of the region are the poll planks in Jungemahal, which include parts of Bankura, Purulia and Jhargram, which goes to poll on April 27.

Shah promised clean drinking water for the people of Purulia and other Junglemahal area. Purulia, Bankura and Jhargram, the dry districts, have been facing severe water scarcity for years. Fluoride contaminated water is a serious threat to the people of Purulia.

“We will come up with a Rs 10,000-crore project which will provide clean drinking water in Purulia. Didi has forced you to drink fluoride-contaminated water,” he said.

“You want Bhaipo as chief minister or want development and clean drinking water in Jungemahal,” Shah asked.

Shah highlighted the failure of Banerjee in generating employment and blamed her for “driving away the automobile industry” from Bengal, hinting at Tata’s Nano factory. Shah held four rallies on Thursday at Purulia’s Baghmundi, Jhargram, Tamluk and Bishnupur. Meanwhile, Mamata said she has already started providing clean drinking water and will expand the project after coming to power. She also announced a Rs 62,000-crore investment to develop an industrial hub and extension of clean drinking water in the region.
