Over 72% polling recorded in Phase-6 of West Bengal assembly polls amid stray violence
BJP’s national vice-president Mukul Roy, TMC ministers Jyotipriyo Mallick and Chandrima Bhattacharya and CPI(M) leader Tanmay Bhattacharya were among those who contested in this phase.

In Uttar Dinajpur’s Chopra area, shots were reportedly fired after clashes broke out between TMC and BJP party workers over allegations of heckling by agents at a polling booth.
Both the parties accused each other of trying to rig votes. Two TMC supporters and three from the BJP were reportedly injured in the clashes. A huge contingent of security forces was rushed to the area to control the situation.
In Halisahar area of Naihati constituency, the BJP alleged that bombs were hurled at the residence of a local BJP leader. The TMC alleged that there were violations in Habra, Islampur, Hemtabad and Kaliaganj.

Police recovered country-made bombs in Amdanga constituency. In Titagarh area of Barrackpore constituency, clashes broke out between TMC and the BJP supporters, following which bombs were hurled at each other in which five BJP activists were severely injured.
In Raiganj, the TMC alleged that one of its workers was seriously injured after he was allegedly stabbed by BJP workers. Violence was also reported from Bijpur constituency in North 24 Parganas.
