Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the Trinamool Congress for allegedly disrespecting President Droupadi Murmu during her West Bengal visit
Kolkata: Asserting that regime change is already written on the walls and in the minds of people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday slammed the "cruel" Trinamool Congress government for disrespecting President Droupadi Murmu during her recent visit to West Bengal. He said the ruling party had not only insulted the President but also the Constitution, B R Ambedkar, women and the tribal community, and that the people of Bengal would give a befitting reply.

"The President represents the Adivasi community. The Trinamool government insulted her and did not receive her despite her holding the highest office. The President, known for her simplicity, had to express her grievance," Modi said at the Brigade rally in Kolkata.

Modi said infiltrators posed the biggest threat to Bengal's "roti, beti and maati". "Infiltrators are snatching jobs from the youth and grabbing land, leading to demographic changes in Bengal. Bengali Hindus are being turned into a minority while appeasement politics is being practised by the present government. Trinamool opposed citizenship for Hindu refugees for vote-bank politics," he said.
