Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Sunday that the Central government wants to carry out a delimitation exercise aimed at merging parts of the state with Bihar or Odisha. She also flagged a "huge conspiracy" which may be undertaken from Sunday midnight.

"BJP has undertaken plans to bring in a delimitation bill and divide West Bengal into three parts. It may merge parts of West Bengal with Bihar or Odisha, and torture Bengalis there," Banerjee said while addressing assembly poll rallies at Chhatna and Onda in Bankura district and Khandagosh in Purba Bardhaman.

"There is a huge conspiracy being made and there will be arrests from today," Banerjee said.

Calling the assembly election as "a do-or-die battle," Banerjee said SIR is a big scam. "In the name of SIR, the BJP has scammed Bengal. By force and threats, the names of 90 lakh voters have been deleted. While they (BJP) talk about religion, they have deleted 60 lakh Hindu voters. Among them, 30 lakh Muslim voters have also been deleted."

"If they prevent you from voting, use broomsticks and clean your road," Banerjee told women voters.

"There is an attempt to divide our party and a Rs 1000 crore deal was struck," Banerjee said with reference to a purported viral video, where Aam Janata Unnayan Party chief Humayun Kabir was seen speaking about a deal to split minority votes to defeat Trinamool. The veracity of the purported video has not been verified by ET.
