Former Bengal Governor rejects 'forced exit' claims, says resignation a 'conscious decision'

Kolkata: Former West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Sunday said that his resignation was "a conscious decision" and that "the reasons for the resignation will remain confidential unless the time comes". Bose's remarks came amid repeated claims by Mamata Banerjee that he was forced and threatened to resign. However, Bose said he would return to Kolkata to vote during the upcoming assembly polls as a "proud voter".

"There is a rule in sports. There is a time to end the game. When there is an entry, there is an exit," Bose said while explaining his decision when asked about his resignation. "I am a proud voter of West Bengal from the Chowringhee assembly constituency, and I will return to cast my vote," he said.

Bose, who became a voter in the state only a week ago, added that he would not waste his vote and would come back to Kolkata to exercise his franchise. - OPB
