Voting for Phase 2 of the West Bengal Assembly elections began amid reports of EVM malfunctions from several constituencies across the state, briefly disrupting polling at select booths.

In South Kolkata’s Jadavpur constituency (Ward 110, Booth 323), an EVM was reported non-functional. Similar issues emerged in Sonarpur Uttar (Bonhooghly 1) and Sonarpur Dakshin (Kalikapur 2, Booth 261), both in the Jadavpur organisational district, where machines stopped working. In Nadia district, an EVM malfunction was reported from Ranaghat Uttar Paschim (Ward 3, Booth 148), while in Krishnanagar’s Palashipara constituency (Dhananjaypur, Booth 236), polling was affected due to a non-working machine.

Voting is being held across 142 constituencies in seven districts, including 11 seats in Kolkata, with around 3.21 crore voters deciding the fate of 1,448 candidates. The districts going to polls include North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Nadia, Howrah, Hooghly and Purba Bardhaman.
