Lashing out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said he did not keep his promises on the various central schemes.

Banerjee said: "Though I have great respect for the PM's chair, I am sorry to say that Modi is a big liar,".

"Modi did not keep his promise on crediting '15 lakh to everyone's bank accounts. The fate of the Ujjwala scheme is in a limbo ," Banerjee said.

Keeping up her attacks on Modi and home minister Shah, Mamata said they are concerned only about big industrial groups and are silent on the farmers' movement in New Delhi.

Mamata said the Centre's 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' scheme is no match for West Bengal government's Kanyashree. She said, "Modi always fails to keep his promises but I deliver what I promise. The state schemes like Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi and Swasthya Sathi are all very successful." Notably, the Kanyashree scheme has received much acclaim from the United Nations. The chief minister questioned the Modi government for closing down and merging PSUs. "Why are the PSUs being closed down, making lakhs of people unemployed?" she questioned, adding that people don't trust the saffron party anymore.

She also accused the BJP of making false promise to government employees on implementation of the seventh pay commission recommendation.
