BCCL
Kolkata: Major protests by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) broke out outside the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer's (CEO) office on Monday, with scuffles reported between protesters and the police.

The BLOs flagged mounting pressure, daily changes in instructions, and the addition of a new feature-"delivery of scheduled hearing notices"-in the BLO app, which requires them to update information related to the hearing process.

Service of hearing notices began on Saturday, while hearings under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) are scheduled to start from December 27.

The protest was organised by the Trinamool Congress-backed BLO Adhikar Raksha Committee, which has been agitating since November 24.
