BJP will get 50% vote, complete border fencing in 45 days of win in Bengal: Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the BJP would win the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections with a 50% vote share and complete all pending border fencing work within 45 days of forming the government in the state.

Calling 2026 the year of "Parivartan", Shah said the Trinamool Congress government would be ousted and a "Sonar Bangla" would be built under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Infiltration is a national security issue. Infiltrators are taking away jobs meant for our youth. Every infiltrator will be repatriated. That is why Mamata Banerjee is scared of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). BJP fully supports the Election Commission to ensure a clean electoral roll," Shah said while addressing a Karyakarta Sammelan in Siliguri.

He accused the state government of delaying border fencing by not providing land to the BSF. "The Calcutta High Court has directed the state to hand over land by March 31. Do not expect Mamata Banerjee to comply. When BJP comes to power, the new Chief Minister will ensure fencing is completed within 45 days," Shah said at a meeting in Barrackpore.

Shah alleged that infiltrators were entering through unfenced and riverine stretches and accused the state government of facilitating illegal migration by helping them obtain forged documents.

Reiterating BJP's electoral pitch, Shah said the party aims to form an infiltration-free, syndicate-raj-free and corruption-free government that would attract investment and generate jobs.

Claiming governance had collapsed in Bengal, he promised a corruption probe under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge and said those guilty would be punished. He cited arrests of Trinamool leaders in alleged scam cases to back his charge.

Urging party workers to intensify mobilisation, Shah said BJP cadres should work relentlessly till counting day to bring the party to power.

Referring to the Trinamool slogan 'Ma, Mati, Manush', Shah alleged that corruption had been institutionalised in the state. "Cash-for-jobs, ration scam, cattle smuggling, MGNREGA and PM Awas - corruption is everywhere," he said.

On the SIR exercise, Shah assured Matua and Namasudra communities not to be intimidated. "Mamata Banerjee is threatening the Matuas. They should not be afraid. The Election Commission will identify infiltrators and the new BJP government will take action," he said.
