BJP, TMC workers killed in West Bengal post-election clashes: Police
Kolkata: A BJP worker and another from Trinamool were killed in separate incidents of post-poll violence in West Bengal on Tuesday, police said.

BJP worker Madhu Mondal died after being allegedly beaten up by TMC workers during a victory procession in the New Town area on Tuesday evening. TMC worker Abir Sheikh was hacked to death allegedly by BJP activists at Nanoor in Birbhum earlier in the day, police said.

In Howrah district, a former TMC councillor was assaulted, the police said. In other incidents, there were reports of arson and vandalism at TMC offices in Kolkata's Tollygunge and Kasba, in Baruipur, Kamarhati, Baranagar in the suburbs, and in Baharampur in the districts by mobs holding BJP flags since Monday afternoon.

State BJP chief Samik Bhattacharya said the political culture of Bengal must change. "We have given clear instructions to our party workers that no violence will be tolerated. We have informed the administration that if any violence occurs, FIRs should be lodged and action taken, even if he is a BJP worker," he told ET.
