What happened in the 2021 Asansol Dakshin
Currently, Agnimitra Paul of the Bharatiya Janata Party is the sitting MLA from Asansol Dakshin Assembly Constituency. She won the seat in the 2021 Assembly elections with 45.13% of the total votes. The All India Trinamool Congress candidate finished second, securing 42.83% of the votes. Asansol Dakshin Assembly Constituency had 274,245 registered voters in the 2021 Assembly elections.In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, a total of five candidates contested from the Asansol Dakshin Assembly Constituency. These included Sayani Ghosh of the All India Trinamool Congress, Agnimitra Paul of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Prasanta Ghosh of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Shiuli Ruidas of BJMP, and Singhasan Paswan of BSP.
Previously, Tapas Banerjee of the All India Trinamool Congress represented the constituency, having won the seat in both the 2011 and 2016 Assembly elections.
