Amit Shah leads mega roadshow in Kolkata ahead of Bhabanipur nominations

Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in a mega colourful roadshow, starting from South Kolkata’s Hazra more and ending near Survey Building near Gopalnagar, with mega mega fanfare, music, colour and orange balloons and saffron flags flowing, "parivartan" song and music, and people dancing to the beats of drums everywhere, to submit nominations for Bhabanipur candidate Suvendu Adhiakri and three others candidates in Kolkata.

Amid huge participation of the BJP workers in the rally, the roadshow was also participated by many monks, wearing saffron, in today’s roadshow and rally at the “Vijay Sankalp Sabha” ahead of the Roadshow.

Calling for “Parivartan” which is evident in Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said today that the people of West Bengal want change in the state and it has become evident from people’s response. He said people of Bhabanipur also should participate in the “Parivartan” and pave the road for the change in Bengal.


The roadshow passed Kalighat Temple and then headed towards Survey Building, where nominations were submitted by the candidates.

The roadshow went past Mamata Banerjee’s residential area near Harish Chatterjee Street. Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress showed black flags to the roadshow, near West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence, which is a stone’s throw to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence.

Shah said Suvendu Adhikari wanted to contest from Nandigram but I told him to fight on her home turf in Bhabanipur.

Apart from Bhabanipur candidate Suvendu Adhikari, Rashbehari candidate Swapan Dasgupta, Ballygunge candidate Satarupa and Chowranghee candidate Santosh Pathak will also file nomination today. BJP State President Samik Bhattacharya was present with Shah in the roadshow.

He also said that the change will start from Bhabanipur. “The people of Bengal are scared of women’s security, bombs, youth unemployment and infiltrators. Record Corruption has happened in Bengal. People are intimidated and they want change,” Shah said.
