Pushkar Singh Dhami to be the CM of Uttarakhand for second time
After days of consideration, the BJP leadership today decided that Pushkar Singh Dhami will continue as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. The decision was announced after the meeting of the BJP's legislature party on Monday.

The BJP's central observers for the state, Union minister Rajnath Singh, and senior leader Meenakshi Lekhi were part of the meeting at the state party headquarters in Dehradun.

Though Dhami lost his own seat of Khatima, he was the frontrunner for the top post among about half-a-dozen names doing the rounds.

Mr Dhami was the front-runner in the race that also included former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, and senior leader Satpal Maharaj.

Pushkar Singh Dhami, however, had the strong backing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party's ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, sources said. The decision had received the stamp of approval from PM Modi during the meeting yesterday.
