Yogi ended his speech at Jewar with the slogan “Jai, Jai Shree Ram”.
In an apparent dig at Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath raised the Jinnah issue at the event held to lay the foundation stone of the Noida International Airport at Jewar.

Yogi said the west UP region is known for the sweetness of its sugarcane but some people replaced this with frequent riots earlier.

“Some people had caused bitterness in this sugarcane by starting a series of riots in the region. Today there are two options in front of the country- we have to decide whether to give fresh sweetness to sugarcane in this belt or will you allow the hatred of riots by supporters of Jinnah. I am present here today to know this,” the chief minister said.

Yadav had stirred a controversy recently when he said Sardar Patel, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Pakistan founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah studied in the same institute and became barristers. They had all worked together to help India get freedom and never shied away from any struggle.

BJP has slammed him on several occasions for his remarks. Home Minister Amit Shah had said for SP, JAM (Jan Dhan, Aadhar, Mobile) stands for “Jinnah, Azam Khan and Mukhtar Ansari”.
