Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday alleged that the Samajwadi Party had "withdrawn cases against terror accused during its tenure", days after a court convicted 49 people for the Ahmedabad serial blasts.

Recalling the Ahmedabad blasts, Modi said he had vowed to punish the perpetrators even if they took refuge in "paatal" and accused the SP of being sympathetic towards such terrorists. "I remained silent for so many years because the hearing was going on. Today, when the court has given them the punishment, I am raising the subject before the country," he said.

"As many as 14 terror cases were sought to be withdrawn by the SP government... Is that right? Will they not try to do it again if they come to power?" Modi said.
