Officers collecting IDs of juniors to cast fake postal ballot: Akhilesh Yadav

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday alleged foul play by government officers in Uttar Pradesh, saying that junior officials were being pressurised to vote according to the choice of the superiors or face action.

Speaking in Saharanpur, Yadav also highlighted a locally reported incident in Fatehabad in Agra, where a disabled youth alleged that an officer cast his vote in his place in favour of the BJP instead of the SP. Yadav said if the Election Commission does not terminate such officers, then many such officers will resort to such tactics.

"In Fatehabad, a disabled youth had to cast his vote. He said officers cast it on his behalf. Villagers recognised that he is an officer. Then a different team of officers came and said only one vote had been compromised. I want to tell the EC that this is what officers are doing.


And I have said this from day one that many officers are acting as BJP workers. And there has been no action," Yadav said."From Lalitpur to Saharanpur, many voter IDs have been taken to cast votes and officers are pressuring junior officers that if they don't vote according to them, they will face action," Yadav said.
