In the UP polls, 0.69% of total votes, 637,304 in absolute numbers, were cast in favour of the Nota (none of the above). In 2017 assembly elections, the figure was 0.87% or 7,57,643 votes.

The margins of loss for 22 candidates, including SP's 13, were less than the Nota votes polled in their constituencies.

Dharam Singh Saini, who had joined SP from the BJP just before the polls, lost from Nakur by 315 votes. Nota votes in Nakur were 710. In Bilaspur, BJP's Baldev Singh Aulakh defeated SP's Amarjeet Singh by 307 votes. Nota received 1,197 votes.


In Baraut, RLD's Jaiveer lost to BJP's Krishan Pal Malik by 315 votes. Nota's tally was 579.

Nota affected BJP's performance too and seven of their candidates lost with a margin less than the nota votes. BJP's Kamlesh Saini lost to SP's Swami Omvesh in Chandpur by 234 votes. Nota got 854 votes. In Domariyaganj, BJP's Raghvendra Pratap Singh lost to SP's Sayda Khatoon by 771 votes. Nota got 1124 votes. In Pharenda, Congress's Virendra Chaudhary won by 1,246 votes against BJP's Bajrang Bahadur Singh. Note received 1,484 votes. Similarly, in Jasrana, BJP leader Manvendra Pratap Singh lost to SP's Sachin Yadav by 836 votes. Nota count here was 1,580 votes.
