At a rally in Azamgarh on Saturday, home minister Amit Shah said the Samajwadi Party has also brought a "JAM", explaining it as "Jinnah, Azam Khan and Mukhtar".
The BJP and its ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), are organising events which are seen appealing to Hindutva voters.

The BJP leadership in Uttar Pradesh is of the view that mention of "Jinnah" and "Hindutva" in the state's political discourse will benefit the party in the upcoming election. In a concentrated effort, BJP leaders are attacking the opposition on Jinnah and Hindutva and want to keep the Hindutva fervor alive during their poll campaigns.

At a rally in Azamgarh on Saturday, home minister Amit Shah said the Samajwadi Party has also brought a "JAM", explaining it as "Jinnah, Azam Khan and Mukhtar".


"Who told Akhilesh Yadav to glorify Jinnah? Who told Salman Khurshid to write a book and say such kind of things? We are contesting elections on the issue of development. But if someone attacks the culture identity and the very nature of this country, we are not going to be silent," Satya Kumar, BJP co-incharge of UP, told ET.
