Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday reached out to young voters and said that about 11 lakh government posts lying vacant in Uttar Pradesh would be filled if his party's government came to power in the state.

"We will open recruitment in police for the youth... If needed we will provide age relaxation to those candidates who turned overage due to the Covid pandemic," said Yadav, adding he would also appeal to the Army to recruit more youths from the state.

Calling BJP leaders "liars", Yadav said they talked about Pakistan and terrorism in UP, but "people need fertilisers and jobs... The people of the state will teach them a lesson."

Yadav held rallies in Unnao, Ayodhya and Barabanki.

Yadav said under the BJP government, inflation and corruption have doubled. "The corruption has increased so much that a businessman fled after stealing ₹22,000 crore of 28 banks," Yadav said.
