Left, Congress friends in Tripura, foes in Kerala, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit out at the Left party, accusing them of looting the state for years and forcing people to live in poverty. Addressing a public rally in Agartala on Monday, he said, “The Left rule had pushed Tripura to destruction. The people of Tripura cannot forget the condition that prevailed here.”

Modi, in his third election rally in three days, said the Left and the Congress were doing ‘kusti’ (fight) in Kerala and ‘dosti’ (friendship) in Tripura.

“The Left treated the people of Tripura as their slaves. The ‘Red Signal’ (the Left) had become the misfortune of Tripura. The BJP government has established peace and the rule of law in Tripura,” he added. Modi thanked the people of the state for removing the ‘Red Signal’, and installing the double-engine BJP sarkar that helped Tripura to return to the track of development.


He accused the Left of betraying the poor and alleged that people have suffered due to years of their misgovernance and asked the people to vote for the double-engine government of the BJP to continue development in the state.

“I had promised HIRA, and the growth and prosperity in Tripura stands unparalleled. Also, everyone is surprised when they land at Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Airport in Agartala. Such a modern airport in the northeast has become possible only because of the double-engine government,” he said. He talked about the Agartala-Akhaura rail link project which is going to be completed soon.
