HYDERABAD: The campaign of abuses that hit a new low will come to an end on Wednesday evening. Chief electoral officer Rajat Kumar on Tuesday said campaign will draw to a close at 4 pm in 13 constituencies in Maoist-affected region and 5 pm in rest of the state. Sale of liquor is also banned from Wednesday till the polling ends on December 7 evening.

Liar, chor, Alibaba 40 chor, khao commission Rao, mental, joker, Chandramukhi are some of the choicest abuses hurled by netas against one another. From chief minister to the leader of opposition to candidates in the fray, every leader worth his/her salt indulged in this abuse spree for the last one month. Despite the Election Commission authorities issuing notices for use of foul language by leaders like Harish Rao, Vanteru Pratap Reddy, etc, there was no dearth of free flow of choicest abuses.

Rajat Kumar said no person shall convene, hold, attend, join and address any public meeting or procession in connection with election from Wednesday evening. “Display of election matter to the public using cinematograph, television or other similar apparatus is also prohibited. Similarly, release of opinion polls and other election-related programmes in electronic media will also not permitted during this period. Violation of this rule is punishable for two years or fine or both,” he warned.

Meanwhile, the ECI authorities said that distribution of photo voter slips would be completed on December 5. The CEO issued orders to the polling staff to check distribution of money, gifts and liquor.

It may be recalled CM K Chandrashekar Rao called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a ‘liar’ and asked him ‘is this country your father’s jagir’ and alleged that Modi has ‘Hindu-Muslim disease’. KCR called Congress chief Rahul Gandhi a ‘joker’, while Congress and BJP leaders called KCR’s family as ‘thieves’ and ‘looters’.

Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu termed KCR and his family as ‘Ali baba aur char chor’. Rahul and other Congress leader said KCR meant khao commission Rao. TDP president Chandrababu Naidu described KCR as ‘chota Modi’.

TRS candidate Balka Suman called Revanth a dwarf, and in return, Revanth called Suman a stooge who chews leftover bones of CM KCR. Softspoken finance minister Eatala Rajender, in a video that had gone viral, abused his opponent and cricketer P Koushik Reddy, who returned the compliment by calling the minister as a dwarf.
