Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the Telangana electorate to vote after careful thought as the new state is now a decade old and is at a juncture where it needs a strong and responsible government that can propel it towards growth. He reiterated his party's stand that if voted to power, the BJP will appoint a leader from the backward community as chief minister.

Addressing an election rally in Karimnagar on Monday, he said, "When a child in your family reaches the age of 10, you become more concerned about providing him/her the best teachers and facilities for growth. The same applies to Telangana today. The next five years are crucial for the state." He insisted that BJP is the party that can create the Telangana they dream of.

BRS, he alleged, has not spared any opportunity to engage in corruption, promoting nepotism and practising appeasement politics. "Whenever you think of these issues, you think of BRS and Congress," he said.

He also slammed the Congress for not being strong enough to keep its flock together. "Congress leaders cannot be trusted. You never know when they will walk out of their party and join BRS. People know that voting for Congress means bringing back KCR," Modi said.

A vote for BJP is a vote to improve Telangana's infrastructure, boost development and ensure a better quality of life for farmers, youth, women and the poor.

The prime minister assured the electorate that the promises made by BJP are "Modi's guarantees" and hence will surely be fulfilled. He mentioned the free foodgrain scheme for the poor among the many steps taken by his government. He said that if voted to power, the BJP government will deal with the corruption, nepotism, and other ills of the KCR dispensation.

"Somebody has told KCR that even if the shadow of Modi falls on him all his dreams will be shattered. Since then, he avoids me everywhere," Modi said.
