HYDERABAD: At least 29 of 119 returning officers, including few IAS and IFoS officials of revenue divisional officer rank and above appointed for each assembly constituency, have to retake the election duty exam as they failed to secure above 80% marks. Also, 90 assistant returning officers of 251 in Telangana have to rewrite the test as they scored less than 80% - the benchmark.
Telangana chief electoral officer Rajat Kumar said, "We completed training for ROs and AROs for all 119 assembly constituencies in Telangana. At least one-third ROs and AROs have to repeat. We are stringent in our certification. Unless they know the rules, they can't conduct elections."
Election authorities conducted training for elections and certification examination in Hyderabad for all officers across the state between October 24 and October 27 at Telangana State Institute of Rural Development in Rajendranagar.
