Pictures of home minister Amit Shah, BJP’s national president JP Nadda, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and local BJP leaders like the party’s Tamil Nadu state president L Murugan can be seen in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple alongside those of AIADMK ministers and senior leaders. Tamil Nadu is known for its temples and among those temples, there are some such as this one which have been erected for people who have been influential in their fields. There is already an MGR temple on the outskirts of Chennai.
Temples have also been erected for actors. For instance, a temple was erected, and later demolished, for actor Khushbu Sundar. Actress Namitha too had a temple erected in her honour in Tirunelveli. The new temple has two large bronze statues of the AIADMK leaders, each weighing 400 kg, on an elevated platform.
