Tamil Nadu Assembly Election Results: CM Stalin, son Udhayanidhi trailing as TVK redraws Tamil Nadu battle

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin suffered an early setback on Monday after trailing by 886 votes against TVK candidate V.S. Babu after the first round of counting, amid dramatic trends that showed the ruling DMK slipping to third position in the state.

The setback deepened for the DMK as Stalin’s son and senior party leader Udhayanidhi Stalin was also trailing from the high-profile Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency.

Early leads pointed to a major churn in Tamil Nadu politics, with actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and the AIADMK locked at 71 seats each, while the DMK was ahead in 61 constituencies.

The trends indicated a strong anti-incumbency wave against the ruling party and suggested that Vijay’s political debut may be significantly reshaping the state’s traditional Dravidian political landscape.
