Chennai: Vijay-led TVK has demolished the long-standing dominance of the Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu by emerging as the single largest party, leading in 107 constituencies as of 8:50 pm, as per the Election Commission (EC). The actor-turned-politician's blockbuster electoral debut was not in certain pockets but across the state. DMK was leading in 60 constituencies, AIADMK in 47, PMK in four, INC in five, IUML in two and CPI in two. To form the government, TVK needs to cross the majority mark of 117.

The party surged ahead in the northern districts of Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Thiruvallur, making notable inroads across the region. It has also established a solid presence in central Tamil Nadu, including Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Karur, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Pudukkottai, and Mayiladuthurai. The momentum extended to southern districts as well, with strong showings in Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Tenkasi.

"We dedicate this victory to the Karur incident. The practice of cash-for-votes has been eliminated. People of Tamil Nadu have delivered their verdict. DMK has been thrown out by the people," TVK leader Aadhav Arjuna told reporters on Monday.

Arjuna won the Villivakkam constituency by a margin of 17,302 votes against the DMK's Kartik Mohan. Other key leaders of the TVK too won by large margins. 'Bussy' N Anand won the T Nagar constituency against Sathiyanarayan B of AIADMK by a margin of 13,027 votes. Another key figure in this election was KA Sengottaiyan, who won from Gobichettipalayam by a margin of 16,620 votes. Sengottaiyan defeated his closest rival, N Nallasivam of the DMK and managed to maintain his grip on the seat he has now represented nine times, despite shifting his lifelong political allegiance from AIADMK to TVK in late 2025.

One of the biggest upsets during this election was CM MK Stalin losing from Kolathur where TVK's VS Babu won by 8,795 votes.
