Key battlegrounds

Perambur emerged as a key battleground with actor-turned-politician Vijay making his electoral debut. He took on sitting DMK MLA R.D. Shekar, who secured 1,05,267 votes (52.5% vote share) in 2021, defeating AIADMK’s N.R. Dhanapalan. The constituency had witnessed a razor-thin margin in 2016, when AIADMK’s P. Vetrivel won by just 519 votes. Voter turnout in Perambur surged significantly this year

Mylapore witnessed a triangular contest involving DMK’s Dha Velu, BJP’s Tamilisai Soundararajan, and TVK’s P. Venkataramanan. In 2021, Velu won with 68,392 votes (44.95% vote share), defeating AIADMK’s R. Nataraj. The constituency saw a notable rise in voter turnout compared to the previous election.

Chepauk–Thiruvallikeni remained a closely watched seat, with Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin representing the DMK against AIADMK’s Aadirajaram and TVK’s D. Selvam. Udhayanidhi had secured a decisive victory in 2021 with 93,285 votes (67.9% vote share). The seat recorded a sharp increase in voter participation this election.
