Rajasthan witnessed over 55.63% voter turnout until 3 pm for the 199 assembly constituencies, according to information provided by the Election Commission.

The voting percentage till 1 pm was 40.27%.

The voting process commenced at 7 am, following extensive campaigning by major political parties, including the incumbent Congress and the BJP. However, polling for the Karanpur assembly constituency was adjourned due to the unfortunate demise of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar.

Voters, who began queuing up outside polling booths early in the morning, have the opportunity to cast their votes until 6 pm.

To ensure a peaceful and fair electoral process, robust security arrangements have been put in place. A total of 1,02,290 security personnel, including 69,114 police personnel, 32,876 Rajasthan Home Guard, Forest Guard, and RAC personnel, along with 700 companies of CAPF, have been deployed.

Key political figures, including Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former CM Vasundhara Raje, former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot, Congress national spokesperson Gourav Vallabh, Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore, Vishwaraj Singh Mewar, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi, and Rajasthan LoP Rajendra Rathore, are among the prominent candidates vying for electoral success.

Despite efforts to persuade rebel candidates from both the BJP and Congress to withdraw their names, about 45 rebel candidates, including MLAs, former MLAs, and party officials, remain in the fray.

The ruling Congress aims for another term, while the BJP seeks to replace the Ashok Gehlot government, relying on the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The counting of votes is scheduled for December 3, with the outcome poised to shape the political landscape in Rajasthan. In the 2018 elections, the Congress secured 99 seats, with the BJP closely following at 73. Ashok Gehlot assumed the role of Chief Minister with the support of BSP MLAs and Independents. The present elections hold significance as they unfold against the backdrop of dynamic political dynamics and aspirations for governance change in the state
