JAIPUR: BJP’s national president Amit Shah said the party is as firmly grounded in Rajasthan as “Angad ka paon (Angad’s foot)”, likening it to the Ramayana character who was famous for the strength of his feet which no one could move. Addressing an election rally in Jalore on Tuesday, Shah appealed to the public to elect the BJP again for evicting infiltrators from the country.

“Elect BJP in 2019 again, and we will drive out each and every infiltrator. The Congress was more worried about infiltrators than its own people,” he said. He said the BJP governments in the state and at the Centre had worked together for the prosperity and development of Rajasthan. “UPA gave only Rs 1,09,000 crore to Rajasthan.

After Modi became PM, he gave Rs 2,65,000 crore to Rajasthan. Apart from this, Rs 36,000 crore was given through various schemes, which have increased the development index in the state,” he said.

He said the Congress had no leadership, no programme, but was still dreaming of forming the government.

“Rahul baba is daydreaming about forming government in Rajasthan. BJP is forming government in Rajasthan,” he said.

Rubbishing Congress’ allegation that the BJP government works for the benefit of a handful of industrialists, Shah said that the BJP government was of the public.
