In Nagaland, chief minister and senior leader of ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party Neiphiu Rio filed his nomination for the Northern Angami-II seat in Kohima district. Deputy CM Yanthungo Patton also submitted his candidatures from Tyui assembly constituency.
Agartala: In all, 379 candidates, including 37 women, have filed their nominations for the February 27 election to the 60-member Meghalaya assembly while in Nagaland 225 candidates filed their nominations.

Chief electoral officer FR Kharkongor said the nomination papers and other documents would be scrutinised on Wednesday. The last date of withdrawal of nominations is February 10.

Most of the sitting MLAs, including CM Conrad K Sangma, deputy CM Prestone Tynsong, Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh and leader of the Opposition and former CM Mukul Sangma submitted their nomination papers seeking re-election.
