BJP's Kazheto Kinimi re-elected unopposed from Nagaland's Akuluto Assembly constituency

Kinimi, was re-elected unopposed from the Akuluto Assembly constituency after Congress candidate Khekashe Sumi withdrew his candidature on Friday. February 10 was the last day of withdrawal of nominations.

Agartala: With the only opponent withdrawing, BJP candidate in Nagaland, Kazheto Kinimi, was re-elected unopposed from the Akuluto Assembly constituency.

Congress candidate Khekashe Sumi withdrew his candidature on Friday. February 10 was the last day of withdrawal of nominations.

There were celebrations in the Kinimi's camp as the BJP candidate was elected unopposed. He is the sitting MLA from this seat.


Kinimi tweeted, "Beyond humbled and honoured to represent the people of Akuluto 31 A/C for a second term, as unopposed. I praise Almighty God for this privilege and extend my gratitude to my supporters, well-wishers, the karyakartas of Akuluto BJP mandal and Nagaland state BJP."

Assembly polls to 60 members will be held on February 27 elections. Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister and BJP legislature party leader Yanthungo Patton congratulated Kinimi.

BJP is contesting 20 seats and Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) 40 seats.

The NDPP in 2018 won 18 seats, BJP got 12 seats and formed the government with the support of the other parties and independents.
