BJP promises financial package, board for eastern Nagaland in election manifesto

The BJP on Tuesday released 'Vision Document-2023' in Kohima which promised that an Eastern Nagaland Development Board would be set up for the holistic development of the region and a special package would be given for the development of Eastern Nagaland.

There is a demand for a separate state of Frontier Nagaland comprising Eastern Nagaland areas. Several groups had earlier called for the boycott of the assembly polls scheduled for February 27, which they later withdrew.

BJP president JP Nadda released the vision document which proposes a dedicated Nagaland Cultural Research Fund with an investment of '1,000 cr. Nadda said that once the BJP-Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) comes to power, the Saramati Cultural University would be established in Kiphire with an investment of '500 cr to promote Naga culture. Around '100 cr would be spent to promote all major tribal festivals.


The BJP president assured that the construction of the Trans-Nagaland Highway would be hastened to enable easy access across districts, especially from Eastern Nagaland. BJP promised free rice and wheat per month and 5 kg of black chickpeas and a litre of mustard oil per family, at a subsidised rate to all PDS beneficiaries monthly.
