Around 87.08 per cent of the 1,084 voters on Friday cast their votes in the re-polling, held in Muallungthu Polling Station in Aizawl South-III assembly constituency, officials said.
Re-polling was necessitated in the Muallungthu polling station as the polling officials on Tuesday conducted the actual voting in the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) without holding the mandatory mock-poll in the polling station.
Zoramthanga, who is also the President of the MNF, while addressing the party workers in Aizawl said that the MNF would retain power with the help of God and people’s support.
He said, “Mizoram had to face various challenges and problems in the past five years with Covid-19 pandemic, earthquakes, border disputes with Assam and refugees from neighbouring Myanmar and Bangladesh besides Manipur are some of the major challenges.
“Our government with the help of god has dealt with all the problems and challenges without much help from the Central government,” he said.
The Mizoram assembly elections were held on November 7 with around 80.62 percent votes polled.
