Mizoram Assembly Poll Result: New-party rule in; CM loses

ZPM president and the party's chief ministerial candidate Lalduhoma won from Serchhip. Minister and MNF candidate Laruatkima lost to ZPM nominee Lalnghinglova Hmar in Aizawl West-II Assembly constituency.

The Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) wrested power from the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) in Mizoram by securing 27 seats in the 40-member assembly. MNF could win only 10 seats.

Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga (MNF) lost to ZPM's Lalthansanga in Aizawl East-1 seat.

ZPM president and the party's chief ministerial candidate Lalduhoma won from Serchhip. Minister and MNF candidate Laruatkima lost to ZPM nominee Lalnghinglova Hmar in Aizawl West-II Assembly constituency.


Zoramthanga tendered his resignation to governor Hari Babu Kamabhampati. He said, "I accept the verdict of the people and hope that the next government will perform well. It is the anti-incumbency and Covid onslaught."

State Congress chief Lalsawta lost from Aizawl West-III constituency. He said, "It is time for ZPM. No one can stop an idea whose time has come, at present the idea is ZPM."
