Former Mizoram minister Buddha Dhan Chakma quits Congress, to join BJP
Chakma has resigned from state legislature and primary membership of the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).

Chakma has resigned from state legislature and primary membership of the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).
As per reports, Chakma was miffed after some students belonging to Chakma community were denied admission to medical colleges in the country, despite qualifying for MBBS seat under the state quota.
He is likely to contest elections from Tuichawng on a BJP ticket.
With Chakma's resignation, three Congress MLAs have resigned from the Assembly recently.
Earlier, former home minister R Lalzirliana and Lalrinliana Sailo, a member of the AICC and general secretary of the state PCC, had also left the ruling party and joined the MNF.
Meanwhile, BJP president Amit Shah will kick start campaign for the upcoming polls on October 17. Shah would address BJP's statewide booth level workers meet at R. Dengthuama Indoor Stadium in Aizawl
The 40-member Mizoram legislative assembly goes to polls on November 28.
