The State Congress president Lalsawta will contest from Aizawl West-III. Congress has released the list when its leader Rahul Gandhi is on a two day visit to the state.
The polls in the northeastern state will be held in a single phase on November 7 while votes will be counted on December 3 along with Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Rajasthan.
Lalnunmawia Chuaungo has been nominated from Aizawl North-I (ST). Lalrindika Ralte has been given a ticket from Hachhek (ST), Lalhmingthanga Sailo from Dampa (ST) and Lalrinmawia from Aizawl North-II.
The party has retained four sitting MLAs Lalrindika Ralte, Zodintluanga Ralte, Nihar Kanti Chakma, C Ngunlianchunga. The party has not named its fifth sitting MLA K. T. Rokhaw from Palak ST assembly seat. Rokhaw with IP Junior from the assembly seat. Congress was voted out of power in Mizoram in 2018. The Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) won 8 seats in 2018 assembly polls but lost two seats in subsequent by-polls while retaining the Serchhip seat in 2021 by-polls. The ruling MNF won 28 seats in the 2018 assembly polls, Congress five and the BJP one.
