BJP releases Mizoram candidate list, includes 3 defectors from MNF

The BJP has announced its list of 21 candidates for the 40-member Mizoram assembly polls on Wednesday. It released the list in two parts of 12 and nine candidates, respectively. Mizoram goes to polls on November 7.

Three people, who had quit the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), have been given tickets by the BJP. Assembly Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo, who resigned from his post, has been fielded by BJP from Mamit constituency. The other two -- former minister K Beichhua and former MNF advisor T Lalenthanga -- are contesting from Saiha, and West Tuipui constituencies respectively.

The BJP has fielded four women candidates --R Lalbiaktluangi who will contest from Lunglei West, Judy Zohmingliani (Tuivawl seat), F Lalremsangi (Aizawl South-I), and K Vanlalruati (Serchhip). F Lalremsangi is the spokesperson of the BJP's state unit.
