Meghalaya Assembly poll 2023: Exit poll numbers show hung result
Meghalaya exit polls today predicted that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma's National People's Party (NPP) is likely to emerge as the single largest party in Meghalaya with victory over 23 seats. It's earlier alliance partner BJP may get 6-12 seats. With the exit polls predicting a hung Assembly, Sangma said that election is different from government formation, indicating towards a post-poll alliance with BJP.

"If we get a fractured mandate we will have to talk to other parties to form government. Northeast gets divided amongst themselves and the numbers don't give it a voice at the national level. If a party can give voice to Northeast at the national level, then we will work towards it," Sangma told NDTV.

As per the exit polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress is likely to win 11 seats in the 60-seat assembly.

Zee-Matrize exit polls also predicted that NPP is likely to win 21-26 seats in Meghalaya while TMC will get 8-13 seats. BJP may get 6-12 seats while congress is on 3-6 seats.
