In the run up to assembly polls in Manipur, agencies seize drugs, cash amounts and other illegally procured items worth Rs 102 crores

A senior officer in the state election Commission said that these seizures were made by Income Tax department officials since the Election Commission announced the election schedule on January 8.

In first phase 173 candidates including 15 women are contesting and 92 aspirants including two women are in the fray for the second phase of polling.
In the run up to assembly polls in Manipur, agencies seized drugs, cash amounts and other illegally procured items worth Rs 102 crores.

A senior officer in the state election Commission said that these seizures were made by Income Tax department officials since the Election Commission announced the election schedule on January 8.

He check the movement around 285 check gates are set up.


The state is going to two phases elections to the 60-seat Manipur assembly would be held on February 28 and March 5.

The officer added around 18,039 licensed arms were deposited to the police and this is 80.53 per cent of the total licensed arms in Manipur.

In the 2017 election, 59.76 per cent licensed arms were deposited to the police.
