Election commission orders re-polling in 12 booths in Manipur

The Election commission of India has ordered re-poll at 12 polling stations in Manipur where polling took place on February 28. Repoll will take place on March 5 along with 22 seats which are going for the second phase of polls.

Rajesh Agrawal, Chief Electoral Officer Manipur said the proposal for re-poll was recommended based on the facts and information received/reported from respective rturning officers. One of the main reason for re-polling was due to miscreants damaging EVMs.

BJP Govt released funds to militants: Jairam

In a related development, AICC senior observer Jairam Ramesh Thursday accused the BJP-led government in Manipur of paying Rs 15.70 crore to some banned militant groups under Suspension of Operations (SoO) to "ensure" the first phase of assembly elections in two districts on February 28 were "not free, fair and peaceful". An additional amount of Rs 92,65, 950 was also released on March 1 to influence the elections in the second phase on March 5, he alleged.
