Guwahati: For the first time in the run-up to the polls, the BJP has hinted that chief minister N Biren Singh will continue to lead the next government post March 10, if the party is voted to power. Manipur will have a two-phase election, to be held on February 28 and March 5.

Manipur in-charge and senior party leader Sambit Patra, while speaking at the campaign of the chief minister in his home constituency of Heingang by hoisting a flag, said, "We take a lot of pride to acknowledge that under the able leadership of Biren Singhji, good governance, peace and development was provided. The BJP is contesting the elections under his leadership and there is no doubt in our minds that we will win with two-thirds majority and form the government under his leadership".
