The Election Commission today announced polling dates for J&K and Haryana assembly elections. However, the poll penal said that the polling dates for Maharashtra and Jharkhand will be announced later. The Maharshtra elections holds great significance this year as it is coming just after the Lok Sabha elections where the ruling Mahayuti alliance of BJP, Shinde Sena and Ajit Pawar NCP registered a disappointed performance. Whenever the poll happen, the Nagpur district, which includes 12 assembly seats, will be of particular interest as it is the hometown of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and senior Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Nagpur Assembly Elections 2024: What happened in 2019 state assembly polls?

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the BJP secured six out of the 12 seats in Nagpur district. The Congress won four seats, the NCP one, and an independent candidate also won one seat.

Nagpur North (SC): Congress's Nitin Raut defeated BJP's Milind Mane by 20,694 votes.
Nagpur West: Congress's Vikas Thakre won against BJP's Sudhakar Deshmukh by 6,367 votes.
Saoner: Congress's Sunil Kedar won by 25,956 votes against BJP's Rajiv Potdar.

Umred: Congress's Raju Parwe defeated BJP's Sudhir Parwe by 18,029 votes.
Katol: NCP's Anil Deshmukh beat BJP's Charansingh Thakur by 17,057 votes.
Ramtek: Independent Ashish Jaiswal won against BJP's Mallikarjun Reddy by 24,413 votes.
Nagpur South: BJP's Mohan Mate defeated Congress's Girish Pandav by 4,013 votes.
Nagpur Central: BJP's Vikas Kumbhare won by 4,124 votes against Congress's Bunty Shelke.
Kamptee: BJP's Tekchand Sawarkar won against Congress's Suresh Bhoyar by 11,116 votes.
