The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance on Wednesday finalised its seat-sharing arrangement for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. As per the proposed agreement, the Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) and Thackeray-led Shiv Sena will contest 85 seats each.

Addressing a press conference, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said consensus has been reached on 270 out of total 288 seats for the November 20 elections.

"We will include Samajwadi Party, PWP, CPI(M), CPI, and AAP. Discussions are still on for the remaining seats. We have amicably arrived at a consensus on 270 seats. MVA stands united to defeat the Mahayuti government," Raut said.

Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole said the rest of the seats will be left for smaller parties.

The MVA comprises the Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and NCP (SP).

Earlier today, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said that the list of candidates got delayed because we are going to form a government in the state of Maharashtra.

"There is no seat-sharing formula of Maha Vikas Aghadi. MVA's list got delayed because we are going to form the Government. Others are going to sit in Opposition. We will come to power, so we have to choose candidates and seats very carefully. Our complete list will be released today. The work has almost been completed last night. There are no disputes or differences among us. Everything is going well," said Sanjay Raut.

Further clearing the air around the speculation of a tussle over seat-sharing in Maha Vikas Aghadi, Raut said, "There is no difference of opinion among us. There is no animosity. Everything is going well."

Exuding confidence over the victory of Maha Vikas Aghadi in the Maharashtra assembly elections, Sanjay Raut said that Shiv Sena (UBT) will secure a century of seats and that the country wants them to win 100 seats.

As the polling date draws near, both the ruling Mahayuti alliance comprising the BJP alongside the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar-led NCP and the opposition MVA have intensified their preparations.
