Maharashtra announces big Diwali bonus for BMC employees, Asha workers and Kindergarten teachers

Just minutes before the announcement of Maharashtra Assembly elections dates, state government announced diwali bonus for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) employees, Asha workers and Kindergarten teachers. Maharashtra government announced Rs 29,000 Diwali bonus for BMC employees.

The government had also announced the Diwali Bonus 2024 under the Ladki Bahin Yojana to offer financial aid of Rs 3,000 to eligible women. The government announced that the fourth and fifth instalment payments was directly deposited into their bank accounts through the Ladki Bahin Yojana Diwali Bonus 2024 initiative.

The announcement comes a day after Municipal Mazdoor Sangh, led by MP Ramdash Athawale, requested the government to announce a Diwali bonus of Rs 40,000 for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) employees. The union has appealed to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Municipal Commissioner for an ex gratia bonus for the employees.


Last year, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a Diwali bonus of Rs 26,000 for BMC employees. Diwali 2023 is set to be celebrated from November 10 to 15.
