ET Graphics: Maharashtra assembly elections turnout stays flat; Jharkhand beats 2019 record
Maharashtra recorded an average voter turnout of 62% across its 288 assembly seats, while Jharkhand's second-phase voting for 38 seats saw a higher turnout of 68%, according to Election Commission data.

In Maharashtra, urban apathy was apparent once again with districts like Mumbai city which posted a 50.36% turnout while Mumbai suburban was only marginally better with a 53.94% turnout. Thane was just as dismal with a voter turnout of 52.53%. Urban centres such as Pune recorded no more than 54.92% turnout, while Nagpur and Nanded were at 56.42% and 56.69%, respectively.
Overall, very few of the 288 constituencies in Maharashtra registered a healthy turnout in the 65%-70% range.
In contrast, all 12 districts of Jharkhand that went to poll on Wednesday reported a turnout of over 65%, except Bokaro, which was at 61.62% as of 9:45 pm.
