Congress president Malikarjun Kharge on Sunday in the presence of state's party president Nana Patole and general secretary K C Venugopal, released the manifesto 'Maharashtra Nama' of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for the upcoming Maharashtra elections.

It is important for Maharashtra to defeat the Mahayuti government and support MVA for stability and good governance in the state, said Kharge while unveiling the manifesto in Mumbai.

"...We have five pillars for the progress and development of Maharashtra based on farming and rural development, Industry and employment, Urban development, environment, and public welfare," said Kharge.

He said, "Our five guarantees will help in the upliftment of families and every family will get relief of around Rs 3.5 lakh in a year."

Key highlights of MVA’s manifesto for Maharashtra elections:

  1. Under the Mahalakshmi scheme, women will receive Rs 3,000 per month.
  2. Have decided to do a caste census and we will remove the 50% ceiling on reservations, in line with Tamil Nadu.
  3. Launch a free bus service for the women of Maharashtra.
  4. The youth seeking jobs will be given a Rs 4,000 monthly stipend.
  5. An amount of Rs 50,000 each to farmers who repay their loans on time.

Attacking the BJP, Kharge said, "What does he mean by this? 'Aap kisko kaatangey?'... Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives to keep the country united. This is Yogi ji's slogan. Modi Ji says 'ek hain toh safe hain'. I don't know which slogan will work... You are among the people who killed the one who got us independence."

The MVA alliance comprises Congress, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

The Maharashtra Assembly elections will take place on November 20, with the counting of votes for all 288 constituencies set for November 23.

In the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP won 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, and Congress 42.
