Atal Bihari Vajpayee kin and Morena MP Anoop Mishra in BJP list

NEW DELHI: Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s nephew Anoop Mishra will contest from Bhitarwar Assembly seat. Mishra, who is Lok Sabha MP from Morena, figures in the second BJP list of 17 candidates declared by the party on Monday.

Sources said Mishra has decided to contest an Assembly seat with the hope that he will get a chance to become a minister in MP. He is the third MP who is contesting these elections on a BJP ticket. Dewas MP Manohar Untwal will contest from Agar while Khajuraho MP Nagendra Singh has been declared the candidate from Nagod Assembly seat. Their names were declared in the first list.

Minister of state for health Nirmala Bhuriya will be in the fray from Petlawad Scheduled Tribe reserved seat. Leena Sanjay Jain is the second woman in the list of 17 candidate. She will contest from Basoda seat.


Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan filed his nomination papers from Budhni seat on Monday. He was accompanied by his wife and son.

BJP is yet to announce the candidates for 36 seats in the 230 member Assembly. The first list comprised of 177 names.

Devisingh Patel, former minister BJP candidate from Rajpur (ST) seat, died of a heart attack. The party will be announcing his replacement in the next list.
